KEY OBJECTIVES
Planning for Subiaco's Success

Enhance our City’s identity and potential through the built environment and through our human environment

Our City boasts residential areas characterized by leafy streets and heritage; and commercial areas that are both unique and historic. We can celebrate the old things that make Subiaco unique, while still welcoming change.

Heritage and development are not mutually exclusive; I believe a City that honours its heritage is better placed to build an enviable future. With the right planning tools in place and through a diligent approach to their implementation, we can expect development with stronger foundations for community, culture, commerce and visitors.

Why me

  • I am raising a family here, and love what Subiaco has to offer.

  • I have seen the decline of Subiaco's entertainment scene, since my days as a Uni student growing up nearby. On Fridays and Saturdays in the early to mid 2000’s we used to walk into Subi to visit places like the Red Sea, Llama Bar, the Subi Hotel and Sapphire Bar.

  • When we are not working or looking after the kids, my wife and I love having a variety of places to shop and go out to.

How we’ll do it

  • Consolidation and streamlining of support that the City provides to business, its residents and stakeholders.

  • A ‘Subiaco Summit’ to identify what Subiaco really wants/needs.

  • An independent review of our planning policies and key recent decisions

  • Seize positive opportunities and build strategic partnerships for mutual success. For example: Build relationships with not-for-profit (or ‘for purpose’) organisations and industry bodies. Support local businesses when they come to us with initiatives that will lead to their own success, and benefit the rest of the business community and the City in the process. Establish ties with UWA and the hospitals , to attract their employees and students in their leisure time.
